The leading operator and owner of integrated resorts in Australia, Crown Resorts, confirmed a strategic senior-level appointment.
David Tsai takes the lead as Crown Resorts' CEO
The company announced on Thursday it selected David Tsai for the important role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
This summer, Crown Resorts confirmed the departure of Ciarán Carruthers from his CEO position.
At the time, the company named Tsai in a temporary capacity for the CEO role, while the search for a permanent appointment was initiated.
Now, the latest confirmation reveals that this process is completed, and Tsai was selected for the key role, following approval from the company's Board of Directors.
While Crown Resorts confirmed Tsai's appointment, it said that it is "subject to regulatory approvals," as explained in a press release from October 31, 2024.
Tsai initially joined Crown Resorts back in December 2022 as CEO of Crown Perth.
As a seasoned executive, he brought more than 20 years of experience in integrated resorts.
Notably, Tsai has a track record spanning more than 15 years with MGM Resorts International, the globally recognizable entertainment, gaming and hospitality company.
During his tenure with MGM Resorts, he held important C-suite roles, including President Midwest Group.
The company's transformation continues
The newly appointed CEO shared his excitement. He revealed: "I look forward to leading Crown Resorts as CEO through its next phase of transformation and development."
Additionally, Tsai pointed out: "With the support of our talented and committed team, our goal is for Crown Resorts to be the ultimate entertainment destination in each of our cities, positioning Crown to thrive long into the future."
John Borghetti, Crown Resorts' Chairman, spoke about Tsai's solid experience, skills and capabilities that have made him an asset to the company.
"Together with his strong cultural and team values, David is well positioned to lead the continued transformation, growth and future success of Crown’s business," the Chairman added.
Finally, Borghetti said: "As CEO, David will focus on the highest standards of guest experience across each of our resorts, including the refurbishment and launch of exciting new venues and experiences at each of our properties throughout 2025 and beyond, while continuing our commitment to safe and responsible gaming."
Tsai's appointment will play a key role in the ongoing transformation of the business.
This key process has been unraveling for the last two years and it will continue to unfold under Tsai's strategic guidance.
